LEATHER CLEANING
Leather is usually made from the skins of animals. The animal skin used is usually from goats, cow, and pigskins. Leather cleaning can be a tricky exercise especially if doing it for the first time. It is important for one to carefully follow instructions when cleaning leather.
There are many varieties of types of leather out there. Despite this, leather can still be categorized into three types. These types are; Pigmented (protected) leather. This type of leather is very much durable and has a polymer coating. Though durable, this type of leather remains as one of the least natural in appearance.
Semi-aniline leather. This type has a light surface coating. The semi-aniline leather has improved durability compared to the aniline leather.
Aniline leather. This type of leather is less resistant to soiling but is the most natural looking. It does not have a surface coating or polymer and pigment though coating may be applied lightly to enhance appearance and offer some form of protection against soiling and spillage.
It is important for one to condition leather as a way of maintenance of the leather made item. In this case we will take an example of leather boots or shoes. If one wants his/her leather boots to last longer than a few years then it is important to condition your boots. It is important for one to ensure that the leather remains supple and resists water penetration.
One just needs to sacrifice a few dollars in order to get his/her pair of boots conditioned. This will ensure that the shoe looks good even after a few years down the line. If one wants to, then he/she can polish his/her boots after conditioning though it is not a necessary condition. The main importance of conditioning leather is to ensure that the leather lasts longer than if not conditioned.

As seen above leather cleaning is a step by step process undertaken to maintain the leather in good condition. Leather cleaning can be done on almost all items made out of leather although how it is done depends on the item. For example cleaning of leather boots will be done differently to that of leather furniture and even much more differently with that of a leather purse.
